Start your morning with a heart-healthy bowl of oatmeal! 🍵💚 One of our favorite ways to start the day is by incorporating matcha into our breakfast. Regardless of whether or not the matcha is in tea form or made as a matcha waffle, including matcha in our morning routine makes the rest of the day feel like a breeze. It gives you the nutrients you need to start the day in addition to a caffeine boost. Since matcha is so popular, you’ll never find a shortage of breakfast recipes that incorporate matcha, in fact, you’ve come to the right place! In this post, you’ll find a great breakfast recipe, and most importantly, that our Matcha Maple Oatmeal recipe is 100% sugar-free and has about 20% of your daily recommended fiber!
This is what you’ll need: (ingredients yield 2 servings)
2 cups rolled or steel-cut oats
1 Yum Matcha™ packet (any flavor — we used original)
1 cup milk/non-dairy alternative
1 cup water
2 tbsp. Nature’s Flavors™ Maple Syrup OR 1 tbsp. Maple Syrup Powder + 5 tbsp. water + ¼ tsp. sea salt
- ¼ tsp. Naturlax fiber powder (flavored or pure — we used vanilla)
Here’s what you’ll do:
- First, combine our Yum Matcha™ powder and oats in a small saucepan (the oats should be evenly coated with a thin layer of matcha powder).
- Secondly, add milk or a non-dairy alternative, water, and bring to a boil.
- As soon as the liquid starts boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Note: The oatmeal may get thicker depending on how long you let it simmer, so watch it closely.
- Once the oatmeal reaches the desired thickness, let it stand for 2-3 minutes.
- After that, scoop the oatmeal into a bowl, or bowls if you’re sharing (we recommend you do because it’s so delicious).
- Next, drizzle maple syrup over the oatmeal and top with a pinch of Naturlax psyllium fiber powder.
- Note: If you’re using maple syrup powder, pour the maple syrup powder and water into a separate bowl. Thoroughly mix together until the mixture is the texture of syrup, then stir in sea salt.
- Finally, the matcha maple oatmeal is ready to be eaten. Enjoy!
Other Ideas
Make your morning meal a little fresher by adding some fruit as a topping to compliment the matcha! With this in mind, we recommend bananas, strawberries, and blueberries.
