In 2017, matcha lemonade made waves when Lady Gaga partnered with Starbucks. The duo released a line of colorful beverages with fun fruity flavors. However, the matcha lemonade has some resemblance to a drink from the 1960s.
Matcha vs. Green Tea Bags
Some consider an iced matcha lemonade as a millennial’s take on a classic Arnold Palmer. If you’re not familiar with this drink it’s simply iced tea mixed with tart lemonade.
But what makes a matcha lemonade different from an Arnold Palmer is, well, matcha. Compared to regular green tea, matcha holds a lot more amino acids and antioxidants. Matcha is grown, extracted, and prepared much differently than standard green tea.
A few weeks before the plant is extracted, matcha grows in the shade resulting in higher amounts of antioxidants and amino acids.
Unlike green tea bags, when drinking matcha you are actually drinking the tea leaves. Instead of drinking the essence of the tea leaves you are ingesting them thereby yielding more benefits.
Lavender Matcha Lemonade
Although a matcha lemonade is outstanding on its own, we’re going to turn the flavor up a notch with organic lavender syrup.
We found lavender to be the perfect addition to a drink with earthy and tart flavors. Lavender’s floral flavors uplift an this refreshing drink in the best way possible.
